Freecycle.com ROCKS!

I'm SO glad I discovered this. I've been weeding out stuff - my son came last weekend to help me - and I have many things that are no longer useful to anyone here but still useful items. Someone clued me into this spot and it makes it SO much easier to part with things. I found a home for a computer monitor, some old lamps, a foot locker, my son's old golf shoes, his old Playstation I, and his Miami Dolphins Starter jacket (I'll never forget the odyssey we went on to find that for him when he was around 12!). AND I scored a jogging stroller for my daughter and have the possibility of a double stroller and a webcam!

It makes me feel good that I can de-clutter without filling up the landfill any more than necessary. Now to go through the mountains of books that no one will ever read again (or maybe EVER)!

Yay for recycling - 2008 style!

Stuff

While I was emptying a desk today (so that I could give it to the campaign headquarters of my favored candidate), I came across a lot of papers and pictures I hadn't looked at for a long time: my kids' test scores and report cards, records of my now defunct business, correspondence between a former employer and me when I was trying to get him to pay me what he owed me, owner's manuals for my kids' first bikes, a Super 8 movie I made for one of my first grad classes in the 70s, a couple of trophies, my will, the paperwork for buying two houses, and a lot more.

People collect a lot of stuff over 20 years. It's fun to find and hard to part with. But I'm drowning in it and it HAS to go!

I would LOVE a dumpster for a week or so!
