Go 'head for yourself, Ryan Howard!

Maybe it's because I just finished a strike and tend to sympathize with labor over management, but I say "Well done, mediators!" Yep, it's a lot of money and seems like everyone ought to be able to live on $7 million, but some times you need to overpay. Forget that you think Pat Burrell is overpaid - certain players need to be taken care of - Utley, Hamels, Howard, and Rollins for sure. I don't want to lose any of those guys, even if they occasionally have a slump. Actually, I like Burrell, too!

I can't help it - these people make me happy for half the year!

Not sure that it's fair, but happy day, anyway!

My soon-to-be daughter-in-law celebrates her birthday today. Sharing her day with the biggest celebration of love of the year is a mixed blessing, I am sure. It makes it easier to remember, but it kind of robs you of TWO days of being all that to your honey. Sorry she and my son won't be together for this special day, but I know the love will transcend the miles. Can't wait to get rid of some of the hyphens (soon-to-be)in our relationship - what a great young woman she is. Happy day, Holly - and maybe think about cardiology?

I've been a little distracted...

...and neglected to post my birthday greetings to my son-in-law, Brian. As I mentioned, the name Brian came in a close second to Eric when our son was born, so it was meant to be that Brian became my "second son." What a wonderful gift he has been to our family - so much that we can forgive the nearly-unforgivable - he's a Mets fan. I know his gift arrived yesterday - just in time for the pitchers and catchers reporting to spring training. So enjoy, Brian, and just watch J-Roll rack up the hits and steals as you relive that special 2007 season.

Back to School!

This was a very difficult time - but it seems like we have a tentative contract and we're back to school tomorrow.

I know a lot of people are angry, and I wish there was another way to settle these things. I'm just hoping it is all worth it.
