Finally fall!!!!
After what seemed like an endless summer - and, to be absolutely candid, I really enjoyed that - we are now having crisp fall weather. I went out and bought long sleeves and sweaters in response, kind of a delayed back-to-school shopping spree. One fun thing about having fall come late is that it isn't too long until Thanksgiving (which is the earliest it can be) and, ultimately, Christmas.
I was selling tickets to the football game Friday night and had my little space heater in my booth - one of my favorite fall experiences. High school football is still one throwback to the last century - the pageantry of the band, the cheerleaders, the parents of the band, cheerleaders, and players, the oldtimers who haven't missed a game in 50 years.
Of course, fall means leaves on the ground and I have yet to bring out the rake. I think my strategy this year is to wait for ALL of them to fall and then rake them all. It might be a tough job, but I'll only have to do it once.

I have to say, while I sometimes wished we'd opted for a for a single-family house with a yard over the summer (it's not fun to have your evening grilling interrupted by the huge commercial lawnmowers), I am loving the townhouse right now because I don't even have to think about raking the leaves-- I can just enjoy them.
